There was an old man named Michael Finnegan.

He grew whiskers on his chinnigan.

The wind came up and blew them in again,

    Poor old Michael Finnegan.

There was an old man named Michael Finnegan.

He went fishing with a pinnigan.

He caught a fish but dropped it in again,

    Poor old Michael Finnegan.

There was an old man named Michael Finnegan,
Climbed a tree and barked his shinnigan
He lost twenty years of skinnigan.
Poor old Michael Finnegan... begin again.

There was an old man named Michael Finnegan,
He grew large and then grew thin again.
He died and then he had to begin again,
    Poor old Michael Finnegan.

The end again!

    Another ending:

There was an old man named Michael Finnegan,
He grew large and then grew thin again.
He fell asleep and missed his dinnigan,
    Poor old Michael Finnegan.

This version was written by Kindergarten kids

on the occasion of a boy loosing a tooth:

There was a young man named Michael Finnagin.

He lost a tooth but it'll grow in again.

Now he has the funniest grinnigin,

        Poor ol'e Michael Finnagin.

        Grin again!

        More words:

There was an old man called Michael Finnegan,
Ran a race and thought he'd winnigin
Got so buffed (?) that he had to go innigin
Poor old Michael Finnegan... begin again.

There was an old man called Michael Finnegan,
He kicked up an awful dinnigan
'Cause they said he must not sinnigan
Poor old Michael Finnegan... begin again.
